Though merely a title in some navies, the United Sovereignty of Nations has taken to the word “flagship” as something different; for them, this is an entire warvessel, and it’s undoubtedly a titan. This absolute behemoth is the largest mainline ship-type constructed by the United Sovereignty of Nations, making them the rarest and most expensive vessel in any fleet; as a matter of fact, the number of these ships ranges only in the upper hundreds. As one may be able to expect, these vessels are incredibly well armed, armored, and outfitted with a number of sophisticated defensive systems. In addition to 12 meter thick carbon-titanium armor plating covering virtually every section of the vessel, the internal framework of the Flagship is densely reinforced with multi-later shock absorbent frames; while necessary for simply supporting the vessel’s incredible size, this also adds a significant edge in it’s capability to withstand heavy impact attacks and sustained fire. It’s energy shielding array is also the most advanced of any other USN ship, particularly for its durability-in-general and greater ability to absorb and utilize the energy of photonic weapons deflecting against it’s surface. Lastly, the Flagship is home to entire suites of advanced electronic jamming units and stealth systems, making the vessel fairly difficult to target despite its gargantuan size. These highly reinforced defenses are particularly important for the fact that Flagships are commanded solely by the highest ranking individuals in the USN Navy, the Lord Praepositus’, who are second only to the supreme commander of the entire USN military, the Admirali-Praecipium. The Flagship is often viewed as an extension of a Lord Praepositus’ power and leadership, or simply an avatar of their will on the battlespace. This is most greatly emphasized by not only the sheer size of the vessel, but the vastness of it’s armament as well. There is literally no other ship-type in the Navy which can compare to the amount of broadside fire that a Flagship has the ability to employ; with vast rows of fully automatic kinetic guns, ultra heavy photon projectors, mass accelerator lances, and tens of thousands of missiles, the Flagship can potentially decimate an entire squadron of lesser vessels in one sustained sweep. Each and every one of these ships are also equipped with an apocalyptic, single use weapon; the Nova Missile. Through the fusion of matter and antimatter, this projectile has the power to easily shatter planets, vaporize entire fleets, or potentially ignite small stars into supernovas. Of course though, these WMDs are only used in the most absolutely drastic of situations. As one may expect, these vessels are only employed in the most large scale and strategically important battles, such as the defense of Nation capital systems, or conversely the invasion of key enemy locations. Sometimes a Flagship and it’s escort fleet will be utilized to secure/sweep dangerous border zones as well, although this is significantly less common. Within a standard fleet composition, the Flagship will often be found towards the back of a formation or somewhere in the middle, only engaging in heavy combat if the situation deems it necessary… or if the commanding Lord Praepositus is feeling particularly bold that day. These vessels are truly marvels of innovation, and a fantastic reminder to the greater Universe that when it comes to Naval superiority, Humanity is at the top of their game… and dare, some may say, without real competition.
